A MATCH between Newry City and Glentoran was last night postponed due to a serious traffic incident involving the match officials.

It took place in the Newry area and involved a car in which all four officials were travelling.

Those listed to take charge of the match were referee Ross Dunlop, assistants Adam Jeffrey and Mark O'Brien and fourth official Andrew Davey.

The two sides had been due to face each other at The Showgrounds in Newry at 7:45pm.

Shortly before 7pm, the Northern Ireland Football League said the match was called off due to a traffic accident at Greenbank outside the tennis courts on the Warrenpoint Road.

The incident caused severe delays.

Both clubs last night offered messages of support.

Glentoran said on Twitter the club "hope everyone involved is ok," while Newry tweeted "best wishes from all at NCAFC to those involved".
