A MAN has been ordered to stand trial in connection with a suspected triple stabbing in north Belfast.
Ryan Collagan was initially accused of two attempted murders following the alleged attack at his York Park home in November last year.
But the 24-year-old appeared before Belfast Magistrates' Court today to face a single, lesser charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to one man.
Mr Collagan was escorted into the dock by nurses from a hospital where he is currently staying while in custody.
He had been arrested after police called to a disturbance at York Park found a man inside the house with stab wounds to his head.
Two others were discovered a short distance away in the Shore Road area.
One of them had sustained wounds to the neck, while the third underwent surgery for abdominal injuries.
At yesterday's preliminary enquiry, defence lawyers did not contest prosecution submissions that the defendant has a case to answer on the wounding charge.
The accused declined to give evidence or call witnesses during the brief hearing.
District Judge Fiona Bagnall granted the prosecution application to have him returned for Crown Court trial.
Mr Collagan was taken back into custody and will appear again when those proceedings get underway on a date to be fixed.
