FORMER finance minister Máirtín Ó Muilleoir is due to appear in court later this month on a driving charge.

The Sinn Féin assembly member is accused of breaching a road sign on Kennedy Way in west Belfast, the Sunday Life reported.

After being stopped by police on May 16, the South Belfast MLA was asked to produce his driving documents within seven days for examination by the PSNI.

However, it is understood that in addition to the original charge, Mr Ó Muilleoir is also facing prosecution for failing to produce his driving licence.

The case was mentioned briefly at Belfast Magistrates Court last Tuesday where it was adjourned until November 27.

Sinn Féin did not respond yesterday to requests for a comment.
