SINN Féin assembly member Pat Sheehan has said police have advised that a threat has been made against him.
The West Belfast MLA and former hunger striker said police called at his home on Friday to make him aware of the threat.
"They said it emanated from criminal elements who may be planning to take some kind of action against me," he said.
"Whoever this threat stems from, it will not deter me or my party from representing the people of West Belfast.
"The people behind these kind of faceless threats have nothing to offer this community."
