Crash victim Darren Gallagher

A 22-YEAR-OLD Co Tyrone man who was killed in a road crash at the weekend was laid to rest yesterday.

Darren Gallagher died in a single car collision in the early hours of Sunday when his Opel Astra left the A5 Beltany Road in Omagh, close to the junction with the Drumlegagh Road.

He was the only person in the car. Police are continuing to investigate the collision.

Requiem Mass was celebrated at 11am at St Patrick's Church, Cranagh, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr Gallagher, from the Gortin area, was the 48th person to die on the north's roads this year.

His death prompted renewed calls for the A5 to be upgraded.
