A LONDON-based financial adviser has been cleared of sexually assaulting a hotel maid.

Andrew Marris, from Lauderdale Mansions on Lauderdale Road in London, had been convicted of sexually assaulting the 20-year-old maid on September 21 2016 at the Hilton Hotel in Templepatrick, Co Antrim.

The 54-year-old, who had denied the offence, had been jailed for four months in August but was freed on bail at Antrim Magistrates Court pending an appeal of both his conviction and sentence.

Earlier this month, he won his appeal in Antrim County Court sitting in Coleraine, Co Derry.

The complaint was dismissed on October 9.
