Digital Staff

TWO men armed with a knife and dog chain have tried to hijack a car from the owner as he washed it in north Belfast.

It happened in the New Lodge at around 4.30pm yesterday and the driver was left badly shaken but uninjured.

Police said a man was washing a Vauxhall Mokka in Donore Court when two men approached and ordered him out of the car.

“Although the driver, who is aged in his thirties, was told to get out of the car by one of the men who was brandishing a knife, he managed to drive off," according to police.

One of the men is described as being aged in his early twenties, six feet tall, with a skinny build, bushy eyebrows and wearing a baseball cap and hoodie. He was armed with a knife.

The other is described as being in his early twenties, around five feet five inches tall, of slim build with short ginger/strawberry blonde hair and acne and wearing a grey hoodie with a light coloured t-shirt and was armed with a chain.

One of the men struck the car with the chain.
