A CENTURY of changes for Irish woman, 100 years after some won the right to vote, will be assessed in a major conference at the National Museum of Ireland.

A "broad range" of academics, historians and writers will gather at Collins Barracks on Saturday November 3 to explore those changes and advancements in Irish society.

`Deeds not Words? Assessing a Century of Change' will explore what has changed for society since 1918 - for better and for worse.

Museum director Lynn Scarff said it will be an "important conference, which we hope will inform, engage and stimulate debate around the changing roles of women".

The three panel sessions include playwright Rosaleen McDonagh, historian Mary McAuliffe, journalist Bernice Harrison and academic Dr Tina Kinsella.
