Ammunition has been seized in west Belfast in an operation targeting the INLA.

Police said officers from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force discovered 19 rounds following a planned search of a house on Tuesday.

Detective Inspector Gavin Pue said: “This search was carried out as part of an operation which is focused on the criminal activities of Belfast Irish National Liberation Army (INLA)."

No further details of the find were given.

Police launched a major crackdown on the INLA earlier this year with a series of surprise raids across greater Belfast and Co Antrim.

Around 200 officers, supported by colleagues from the National Crime Agency and HM Revenue and Customs, were despatched to 12 separate locations
