A CO TYRONE firm has been fined £750 for pollution offences.

Firtree Developments was fined at Craigavon Magistrates Court for “allowing an unconsented discharge of trade or sewage effluent to enter a waterway” at Clonmore in September last year.

On visiting the same site the following month water quality inspectors acting on behalf of the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs “discovered gross fungal contamination from the pipe previously sampled and dye tested”.

The firm was also handed a an offenders levy of £15.
