A 50-year-old man is to stand trial in relation to a road crash more than three years ago in which one person died and another was seriously injured.

Appearing for a committal hearing at Dungannon Magistrates Court was William Alexander, from Glenside, Comber, who is accused of causing both death and grievous bodily injury by dangerous driving.

The collision occurred just after 5pm on April 27 2015 near the meeting of the A4 Woodlough Road and the M1 outside Dungannon.

Patricia Kearney, a mother-of-five from Newtownabbey, died in the two-vehicle crash while her husband Tony was severely injured.

A prosecuting lawyer told the court there is a case to answer, which was agreed by District Judge John Meehan.

The defendant did not object to the proceedings, and on being asked if he wished to call witnesses or give evidence on his own behalf, he replied, “Not at this time.”

Judge Meehan remanded Alexander on £400 bail and ordered him to appear for arraignment at Dungannon Crown Court next month.
