THE PSNI, Coroner and Prisoner Ombudsman have all been notified after the death in custody of a 22-year-old man in Maghaberry jail.

The inmate was discovered by staff at the high security prison in Co Antrim yesterday morning.

His family were informed and the relevant authorities notified.

Prison Service director general Ronnie Armour said: "On behalf of the Northern Ireland Prison Service, I would like to extend my sympathy to the family of the prisoner. My thoughts are with them at this difficult time."
