FIVE men aged 21, 24, 31, 35 and 47 were last night being questioned by police after an 18-year-old man was stabbed in Belfast city centre.

Police said the victim, who was attacked at Laganbank Road at around 11.45pm on Wednesday, was taken to hospital with "serious" injuries.

Detective Inspector Paul Wright appealed for information.

"I would specifically like to appeal to anyone who was on the bridge at East Bridge Street last night (WED) at around 11.30pm /11.45pm and saw four males running across it to contact Detectives at Musgrave, on the non-emergency number 101, as they may have information that could assist us with our enquiries," he said.

"I would also appeal to anyone who has any information about this incident to contact us also."
