Runners, racers and walkers are being asked to pull on their trainers to take on the Mourne Mountains in aid of social justice charity, Extern.

The Extern Dambusters Race take place on Saturday, August 18 to raise funds for Extern’s vital work in tackling critical areas of need across Northern Ireland.

The race - organised by NI-based running events company Born2Run - features a half-marathon, a 5K and 10K run, as well as a 10K walk.

Those taking part will be able to choose which area of Extern's work they want to fundraise for including homelessness, mental health/suicide/crisis support and social exclusion.

Among those supporting the event is Laura Graham, who won the women’s race in the 2017 Belfast Marathon.

Charlie Mack, Chief Executive Officer of Extern, said: "Dambusters is one of the highlights of our fundraising calendar this year and promises to be a big hit with our supporters for its fun atmosphere set against the stunning backdrop of the Mournes.

"As well as enjoying a great day out you will be raising vital funds for Extern’s groundbreaking work in helping those in need across the country, from young people in difficulty, to families and individuals facing the challenges of homelessness.
