Body of man recovered from River Foyle

THE body of a man has been recovered from the River Foyle in Derry amid searches for a missing man in his twenties.

Rescuers had been searching for Aodhan O'Donnell following reports he had gone into the water on Sunday evening.

A body was found this morning. It has yet to be formally identified.

It is understood rowers on the river found the body early today before contacting the Foyle Search and Rescue charity.

Police said they are not treating the man's death as suspicious.

A message on the PSNI Foyle Facebook page read: "I'm sure you will join me and my team in sending your thoughts to the family and friends at this time".
