A 26-year-old woman who died following a road traffic collision in Co Down has been described as a "kind and intelligent young lady".

Rebecca Blackwood, who was known as Reba, had sustained injuries in a collision on the Killyleagh Road in Killinchy at around 12.30am on Wednesday.

Police said on Thursday evening that Ms Blackwood had died.

A post on Facebook on the Down Community page said they were "shocked and heartbroken to hear of the sudden death of Reba Blackwood".

"Such a lovely, friendly, kind and intelligent young lady. It was a privilege to have her part of our community. Our prayers and love are with her mum (Rosemary), family and friends".

Other friends who knew Ms Blackwood also took to social media to express their sadness.

One woman, who described the 26-year-old as "a lovely girl", said she was "proud" to have known her while another added that the young woman had "such a beautiful soul".
