Seamus Heaney exhibition to launch in Dublin

The Seamus Heaney exhibition will be held at the new Bank of Ireland Cultural and Heritage Centre in Dublin
Brendan Hughes

AN EXHIBITION exploring the life, works and legacy of Seamus Heaney will be launched today in Dublin.

Listen Now Again features the poet's original manuscripts together with letters, notebooks and photographs – as well as multi-media elements and newly commissioned artwork.

The exhibition showcases an extensive archive of the poet's documents donated to the National Library of Ireland (NLI) by the Heaney family in 2011.

Visitors will also get the chance to see his writing desk and other personal possessions loaned by the Heaney family.

The exhibition is the first to be housed in the new Bank of Ireland Cultural and Heritage Centre at College Green in Dublin.

The centre is a partnership project between the Bank of Ireland and the south's Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.

It will be formally opened by culture minister Josepha Madigan at 10am, and the exhibition launched by President Michael D Higgins at 11.20am.
