MEN wearing balaclavas have attacked a man in a paramilitary-style assault at his east Belfast home.

The man was in the back yard of his home on Willowfield Street at around 5.30am on Sunday when he heard someone banging on his window.

A man outside his home attempted to get the victim to come into the street. When the victim opened his front door, the man ran off.

Around an hour later, a knock came to his door. When he unlocked it, two men wearing balaclavas forced their way in and attacked him.

The man suffered scrapes and bruises.

Police appealed to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity or vehicles in the area between 5.30am and 6.30am on Sunday to contact them.
