A 53-YEAR-OLD man has been injured in an attack in south Belfast.

The man was treated in hospital for a suspected fractured cheekbone and a large cut to his head after he was found in Mount Charles, off Botanic Avenue, shortly after 9pm on Thursday.

Two men were seen running towards University Street following the attack.

One of the men was wearing blue shorts while the other was bare-chested.

Police appealed to anyone with information to contact them.
