NI Water introduce hosepipe ban as heatwave continues
NI Water is to introduce a hosepipe ban from 6pm tonight to combat a strain on supply amid the current heatwave.
The hot weather is expected to last into the weekend and the company said usage had been "significantly more" than normal.
NI Water chief executive Sara Venning appealed to customers to stop non-essential use, as hoses and sprinklers were causing strain on supplies.
She said: "We have maximised our water production and need customers' help to reduce demand.
"We are asking customers to take heed of the hosepipe ban and stop non-essential water use - using hoses and sprinklers is causing demand to exceed the capacity to supply."
