A man who died following an accident involving his motorcycle and a Jeep has been named as Trevor Black.

The 55-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene on the Coast Road, close to Larne.

The accident happened at around 11am yesterday and the air ambulance was in attendance.

The driver of the Jeep was a man in his sixties. He was treated at the scene for arm injuries.

PSNI Inspector Colin Ash said a white Yamaha XT motorcycle and a black Jeep Renegade were involved in the accident and has appealed for witnesses.

A third man in his fifites who was riding a Black Kawasaki ZX motorcycle suffered a leg injury and remains in hospital.

He had been travelling with Mr Black and a number of other motorcyclists along the coastal road.

Mr Black's death brings to 21 the number of people who have died on the north's roads so far this year.

The figure is considerably less than at the same point last year and in 2016.
