Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson was back at work yesterday having suffered a nasty fall on Thursday while meeting European Union chief negotiator Michel Barnier.

The Derry politician tweeted that she had fell down a flight of stairs at Leinster House in Dublin and that Mr Barnier, who was on a tour of Ireland this week, had to "pick me up and everyone around me rushing to my aid - I wanted ground to swallow me up".

However, the following day she posted pictured of herself at a fundraising coffee morning at the Upper Bann constituency office of party colleague John O'Dowd saying she was "sore but not broken."
