A TEENAGER has been remanded in custody on more than 50 charges including kidnap and rape.

Nathan Kidney (18) from Dergina Road, Dungannon faces four sexual charges, 27 assaults, 18 motoring offences and single counts of kidnap, false imprisonment and threats to kill.

Dungannon Magistrates Court heard he was involved in a high-speed police pursuit, in which a stinger device was deployed.

Police received a call after midnight on June 11, reporting a woman was screaming. On arrival police found her alone, but she had woken to find Kidney in her home, drinking alcohol.

At 10am the complainant’s mother reported her missing.

Police began a search and around 3.30pm, her car was spotted at Gosford Road, Armagh with Kidney believed to be driving. The vehicle reached speeds of 80mph in a 30mph zone, driving on pavements and against the flow of traffic.

Kidney denies all the allegations.

District Judge John Meehan refused bail. Kidney is to appear at Dungannon Magistrates Court by video-link on July 11.
