POLICE have appealed for witnesses after an arson attack in Larne, Co Antrim early this morning.

It was reported that at around 2am, a Mitsubishi car parked outside a property in the Inver area had been set on fire, causing significant damage to the vehicle.

The attack comes after a black Ford Focus in the Gloucester Avenue area was found to be on fire in the early hours of Friday morning. Police said they are treating that incident as suspected arson.

Last month a black Volkswagen Golf was set on fire in the Mill Road area of Larne.
