THE British army bomb squad has made safe a “crude but viable device” left close to a house in Co Tyrone.

Several homes were evacuated in Moygashel, outside Dungannon, following the discovery of the device yesterday morning.

A spokesman for the PSNI said: "At approximately 10.15am police received a report that a suspicious object had been left in the area.

“The object was examined by ATO who have declared it to be a crude but viable device that has now been made safe and taken away for further examination.

“Police would like to thank the local community for their patience and cooperation during the operation.”
