A STOLEN tractor was driven into the side of a house in Co Derry causing "significant damage", police have said.

The tractor was driven into the property on Cherry Lane in the village of Feeny, near Dungiven, at around 10pm on Sunday. No-one was in the house at the time.

It had earlier been stolen from a building site in the Feeny area, according to police, and was later found abandoned on the Glenshane Road on the outskirts of Feeny.

"This is a shocking level of criminal damage directed by, or committed by, an individual with absolutely no regard for who they could have injured in the process of this reckless act," said Detective Inspector Bob Blemmings.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact officers on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
