POLICE are investigating a "paramilitary-style assault" on a man in Co Antrim after he was attacked with metal bars by two men wearing balaclavas.

The victim was set upon by the men inside the garage of a property in the Farm Hill area of Mosside between 9.00 and 9.15 last night.

Detective Sergeant Gallagher said  “The victim has since been taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, including a fractured skull, laceration to his head and a broken finger.

"Whilst these injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, this was a brutal and horrific attack. It is yet another example of how criminal groups seek to control communities through fear and violence."

Police have appealed for information.
