THE funeral of schoolboy Kayden Fleck who died after falling into a Co Antrim river is due to take place tomorrow.

Family and friends will gather at Ballymena Elim Church to remember the five-year-old following his tragic death on Saturday.

His heartbroken parents Leanne and Darrel have paid tribute to their "happy-go-lucky" son and described Kayden and his twin brother Jayden as the "two musketeers".

The two boys were playing near the Ecos Centre nature reserve when they fell into the Braid River.

Jayden was rescued immediately, but Kayden was swept for more than five miles downriver before he was pulled from the freezing water in a major rescue operation.

He was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children in Belfast, but later passed away.

Since the tragedy, the community in Ballymena has rallied together to support the family of the Harryville Primary School pupil.

A fundraising page set up in memory of the boy had last night raised more than £6,000 and has been inundated with messages of support for his family.

Organisers of the Justgiving page said: "Poor Kayden lost his life yesterday in a tragic accident, he was five years old, let's help send him off in a way in which he deserves.

"No-one should ever have to bury a child never mind a tragic accident like this, let's get together and help this family give him a send off with love from our community."

A book of condolence was also opened at Harryville Primary School on Monday and has been signed by hundreds of people.
