A 23-YEAR-OLD man was stabbed in the stomach during an attack in north Belfast early today.

He was attacked along with a 22-year-old woman on the Antrim Road shortly after midnight.

The man was treated in hospital although his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The woman sustained a small cut to her face during the assault.

Police appealed to anyone with information to contact them.

Sinn Féin councillor JJ Magee said he was appalled by the assault.

"These brutal attacks have a severely damaging impact on our entire city and must stop immediately," he said.

"Anyone with information about this stabbing should bring it forward to the police immediately."
