A BBC reporter was angrily confronted and filmed by members of a group styling itself as predator catchers.

Kevin Magee, a BBC investigations reporter, is understood to have been working on a BBC programme and interviewing paedophile vigilantes.

He, along with several other people he was with, were aggressively shouted at and followed while being filmed by more than one person thought to be from the paedophile hunter group.

There is no suggestion that Mr Magee or those he was with have done anything wrong.

The incident happened in Belfast city centre and the video was later posted on social media.

One of the men can be heard swearing at Mr Maguire and shouting: "am I in your personal space, Kevin."

Another man says: "It's not so nice when the camera is turned on you, is it?"

Self-styled hunter groups emerged in the north last year and have since been responsible for carrying out dozens of sting operations.

The BBC said: "We can confirm that a BBC NI reporter was caught up in an incident in Belfast city centre. We are unable to provide further comment at this time."
