A 29-year-old man is to stand trial accused of the manslaughter of a woman who died following a single-vehicle road crash almost three years ago.

Jonathan William Thomas Ferguson, of Elm Park, Moneymore, appeared at Dungannon Crown Court today.

He denies unlawfully killing Marie Bernadette McNicholl on April 12 2015.

The victim, known as Bernie to family and friends, lived in Moneymore but was originally from the Derrylaughan area of Co Tyrone.

She was a passenger in a car returning from a night out which struck a tree on the Moneymore to Cookstown road.

The victim was in her fifties and the mother of a grown-up son and daughter.

Ferguson pleaded not guilty when the charge was put to him.

Judge Stephen Fowler remanded him on continuing bail until his trial which is scheduled to begin on May 14.
