HEROIN and cocaine were among drugs worth £200,000 seized by police in Co Derry this week.

Two women aged 45 and 36 remained in custody on Wednesday night after the drugs were discovered in Limavady and Campsie.

On Tuesday, class C drugs, mobile phones and cash were found during searches of two homes in the Glens area of Limavady. A short time later, police stopped a car on Clooney Road in Campsie and discovered five blocks of cocaine worth £75,000.

The two women who were in the car were arrested on suspicion of drug crimes.

During a follow-up search in the Roemill area of Limavady police seized amphetamines worth £120,000, cannabis resin worth £3,500 and heroin worth £2,000.

Detective Inspector Tom McClure from the PSNI's Organised Crime Unit appealed to anyone with information to contact police.

"This operation has struck a significant blow to a drugs distribution network operating in the Limavady and wider north west area," he said.

"The removal of these illegal and dangerous drugs from circulation has undoubtedly prevented real harm in our communities and will have potentially saved lives."
