SEARCHES will resume today for a north Belfast man who has been missing for almost a week.

Michael Cullen (33), who works as a research officer for Ulster University, was last seen on Tuesday.

An award-winning beatboxer, known in the industry as ‘Cull – Human Beatbox’, he has been a support act for stars including Stormzy.

Searches continued over the weekend in the Cave Hill area, where the missing man would regularly walk.

Another focus of search efforts is the Boucher Road area, where his phone was located at around 2.15pm on Tuesday.

Police issued a renewed appeal for information yesterday, saying they and his family are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare.

Chief Inspector Stephen Burns said: “It is known that Michael would sometimes frequent the coffee shops in the Boucher Road and Lisburn Road areas of Belfast. Have you seen him in and around these areas?

"If so, please contact police on 101, quoting reference number 622 09/01/18.

"Michael is 5’11” tall with dark hair and beard. It is believed he is wearing a green puffa jacket, grey jumper and black trousers."

An appeal was also shown on the big screen at the Ulster Rugby match against La Rochelle in Belfast on Saturday.

Mr Cullen, from the North Circular Road area of the city, was reported missing when he failed to answer his phone.

Friends and volunteers have joined search and rescue teams in an exhaustive examination of the Cavehill area, where the 33-year-old would regularly walk.

Around 100 people were involved in the efforts on Saturday, which included generating awareness in various locations in south Belfast and the city centre.

More than £3,000 has also been raised in an online appeal to assist the search.

The family have expressed gratitude to everyone involved in the efforts.
