A ROAD sign which misspelt a Co Down town is to be replaced.

The word Banbridge appeared as 'Banbrdige' on the sign at Millennium Way in Lurgan.

The Department for Infrastructure said the mistake would be quickly corrected.

"The department has been made aware of this error," a spokeswoman told the BBC.

"It will be rectified within the next 24-48 hours at no cost to the department."

It is not the first time that road signs in Northern Ireland have been erected with incorrect spelling.

A sign along the A1 dual carriageway once read 'Downpatick' instead of Downpatrick, while the village of Moira has also incorrectly appeared as 'Moria'.
