AN explosive device may have been left in a wood along the Fermanagh/Leitrim border, police have warned.

The PSNI has appealed to people living in or travelling through Garrison and Belcoo to be vigilant and not to touch any suspicious objects.

The warning came after reports that an explosive device had been left in a wood between Cashel Cross in Co Fermanagh and Kiltyclogher in Co Leitrim.

Police said they are trying to find any such device.

PSNI Superintendent Jane Humphries said: "The safety of the community is of paramount importance and we are appealing to anyone who notices any suspicious objects not to touch them but to contact police immediately by calling 999".
