FORMER champion jockey Tony McCoy helped carry the coffin of his beloved mother Claire yesterday from the family home to her funeral in Moneyglass.

Hundreds of mourners paid their last respects to the popular mother-of-six, leaving some to stand outside Our Lady of Lourdes Church as Requiem Mass was celebrated.

A familiar face in the Co Antrim village, Mrs McCoy - who died on Tuesday after a short illness - was described as a "lovely, friendly woman with a good heart".

Announcing her passing, son Tony described her as the “most incredible wife and mother” while famous figures from the worlds of sport and entertainment also expressed their sympathies.

She was buried at the cemetery in Moneyglass yesterday.

Mrs McCoy is survived by her husband Peadar and children Anne Marie, Roisin, Anthony, Jane, Colm and Kelly.
