TWO men have been released unconditionally after being arrested in connection with a paramilitary-style shooting in Derry’s Shantallow area last month.

The men, both aged 30, were arrested on Friday morning in relation to the gun attack on a 44-year-old man on November 12.

They were released unconditionally on Saturday.

Detective Inspector Michael Winters said: “A planned search was also carried out at a house in the Shantallow area.”

The victim was shot in the leg after he was confronted by several men while walking with a friend near Derry’s Steelstown Brian Ógs GAA ground.

He was forced into an under-road tunnel at Madam’s Bank Road where the "brutal" attack took place.
