Two in court over attempted murder in Derry

TWO men are to appear in court today following a shooting in Garvagh, County Derry.

Three shots were fired at a 46-year-old man on the village's Main Street at around 3am on Saturday, with one bullet hitting him in the leg.

He also suffered injuries to his face and body in the attack and was rushed to hospital to undergo surgery for the gunshot wound.

A 26-year-old man has been charged with offences including attempted murder, carrying a firearm in a public place and discharging a firearm in a public place.

A 28-year-old man has been charged with assisting an offender.

They are due to appear at Coleraine Magistrates Court this morning.
