A 37-YEAR-OLD woman – understood to be a serving prison officer – has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, in an investigation into organised crime connected to the north Belfast UVF.
The woman was detained in the Newtownabbey area on Thursday and is being questioned at Antrim PSNI station.
It has been reported that the woman is a serving prison officer.
The arrest was made by officers from the paramilitary task force, which was set up in 2015 and comprises the PSNI, the National Crime Agency and Revenue and Customs.
Detective Inspector Heather Whoriskey said: “The arrest is in relation to ongoing investigations into the organised criminal activities of north Belfast UVF.”
