POLICE were last night examining an item found during a search in west Belfast.
The Upper Springfield Road was shut between Hannahstown Hill and Monagh bypass during a security alert.
It remained closed late yesterday.
Police also closed the road and carried out searches during a separate alert on Tuesday afternoon. Nothing was found on Tuesday.
