BBC presenter Stephen Nolan was surprised during a live broadcast last night as a protester stormed the television studio.

Mr Nolan was hosting a debate on the controversy surrounding the DUP's Robin Newton during his Nolan Live programme when a man approached him and attempted to hand him paper which Mr Nolan did not accept.

As the protester approaches him, Mr Nolan is seen to jump back in his seat and his jaw drops open but relaxes after a few seconds when it becomes clear the intruder is not a threat.

The presenter told the man: "I think what you need to do is leave sir. Thank you, goodbye."

Mr Nolan then told viewers: "We have no idea who that was but we will continue with our programme."

A Twitter user called DrACActivism claimed he was behind the protest "for the freedom of ideas they do not support."
