Police searched grassland off the Ballygomartin Road in west Belfast today after reports that human remains had been spotted.

A member of the public reported that "a bag containing possible remains" had been seen on wasteland, the PSNI said.

Detective Inspector Paul Rowland added: “The search has now concluded and nothing has been found.

"While nothing untoward has been found on this occasion, I would like to encourage members of the public to continue reporting anything they feel is suspicious to police.”

The scrubland was sealed off and the road closed between the Whiterock Road and Springmartin Road.
