Sport NI chief executive Antoinette McKeown is back at her desk after charges of gross misconduct against her were dismissed

SPORT NI chief executive Antoinette McKeown is back at her desk - six weeks after charges of gross misconduct against her were dismissed.

The former CEO of the Northern Ireland Consumer Council became Sport NI's first female boss in 2013 but was suspended on full pay in March 2015.

A spokesman confirmed that she had returned to work yesterday.

Publicly-funded, with a £30 million annual budget, Sport NI was set up to encourage people into sport.

Ms McKeown said she had been brought in with a remit to "lead change, manage under-performance at a senior level and to restore public accountability, which had long been lost".

She was dismissed in November when charges of gross misconduct were laid against her, but these have been overturned by an independent appeals panel which found flaws with the disciplinary process.
