A woman has died in a house fire in Limavady.

The victim, aged in her fifties, was killed in the blaze at Grange Park early on Monday.

A passer-by alerted the emergency services just before 6.30am after noticing smoke coming out of the property and hearing the sound of a smoke alarm.

Three fire service appliances from Limavady, Crescent Link and Dungiven stations attended the scene.

The woman was found dead inside the home.

A Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) spokeswoman said: "Tragically a lady has died and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the lady who has died."

The NIFRS and police said an investigation into the cause of the fire had commenced.
