ARMED and masked men attempted to rob a cash in transit van yesterday morning.
Police said three men, one armed with a gun, tried to rob the van while it was in a car park on Knockmore Road in Lisburn at around 6am.
The men demanded cash but ran off empty-handed.
All three were wearing hoods, gloves and balaclavas or had scarves around their faces.
One man was of stocky build and was wearing a dark coat, and tracksuit bottoms with white stripes.
The second had a heavy build and was wearing pale tracksuit bottoms and top and a hi-vis vest.
The third man was of slim to medium build and was wearing dark trousers with a paler hooded top and a hi-vis vest.
Police believe the men fled in a silver BMW, later found abandoned in the Windermere area of Lisburn. They later got into a grey BMW driven by a fourth man, described as aged around 35, with a large, stocky build, dark spiky hair, grey stubble and wearing a dark grey fleece.
Officers appealed to anyone with information to contact them.
