Man who died after A1 dual carriageway collision is named as Ian Cameron

A 53-year-old man died and another man was left in a critical condition following a crash on the main Belfast-Dublin road in Co Down yesterday.

Police have confirmed that the man who died was Ian Cameron from Dromara.

The other man who was injured remained in a critical condition in hospital last night.

The collision involving a Ford Focus and a Mitsubishi L200 pick-up truck happened on the A1 near Banbridge at around 12.30pm.

The Ambulance Service attended the scene with a rapid response paramedic and three crews.

The dual carriageway was closed in both directions following the crash, which happened close to The Outlet retail centre.

PSNI Inspector Nigel Henry said: "The road is expected to remain closed for a number of hours whilst a thorough investigation into the collision is carried out. There are no further details at present."
