A MAN in his 40s was injured in a petrol bomb attack on a house in east Belfast.

The victim was taken to hospital after the property in Gawn Street in the Ballymacarrett area was targeted during the early hours of Saturday.

Police said they received a report that a petrol bomb had been thrown at a house at about 1am.

Several windows were smashed and a vehicle outside was also set on fire.

The man was treated was treated in hospital for "minor injuries".

Police appealed for information.
