A YOUNG mother in her twenties has been killed in a road crash in Co Tyrone.

The woman, named locally as Amanda Kelly from Augher, was the driver of a BMW car which was involved in a collision with an articulated lorry on Ballagh Road in Clogher, shortly after 6am on Friday.

Police said the driver of the lorry was not injured.

The road remained closed for much of yesterday as officers investigated the crash.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Mrs Kelly married her husband Emmett over Christmas. The couple have a young son.

SDLP councillor Sharon McAleer said the sudden death had stunned the area.

"The whole community is in shock and devastated," she said.

"Somebody so young, in such tragic circumstances. It's hard to take in. A young child left without a mother and a young husband left without a wife."

Friends of Mrs Kelly paid tribute to her on social media on Friday.

One wrote that Mrs Kelly was "such a bubbly and happy woman".

"Thinking of the family during this sad time," she wrote.

Another wrote: "Very sad news this morning about Amanda Kelly, what a lovely girl. Thoughts are with you, your family and your friends. I'm glad I had the pleasure of knowing you."
