WORK is set to begin on the north's largest office block after the scheme was granted permission by Belfast City Council.

One Bankmore Square, on the site of the Movie House cinema on Belfast's Dublin Road, will include 250,000 sq ft of office space, able to house 3,000 workers across 12 floors, and ground floor shop space. The scheme may also include a cinema.

The £65 million scheme, developed by the Richland Group, is expected to support more than 570 building jobs.

Gary McCausland, CEO of Richland Group, said: "We’re delighted with this outcome and excited that we can now concentrate on delivering One Bankmore Square, Northern Ireland’s most ambitious office scheme to the market and continue to progress discussions with potential occupiers".
