BERNARD Rotich from Kenya has won the 2017 Belfast Marathon men's race in a time of 2:16:04.

The Kenyan athlete won ahead of compatriots Daniel Tanui and Emmanuel Kiprotich.

Co Down runner Laura Graham won the women's race in 2:41:47. The 31-year-old is the first Northern Ireland winner to do so in 18 years.

Belfast Lord Mayor Brian Kingston completed the course in three hours and 32 minutes.

He opened the event, then ran it and said there were great crowds along the route.

It's the 36th year of the marathon and some 15,500 people pounded the pavements and road

Many were doing the full 26.2 miles but there were plenty taking part in a team relay, marathon walk, wheelchair marathon and fun-run.
